Drought Tolerant Alfalfa for Hay and Grazing Livestock

Medicago sativa
A perennial cool-season legume that is suitable for hay, haylage, silage, or pasture. Plants feature an erect growth habit from a single crown and a long taproot, which delivers excellent performance under drought conditions. Grazing-types feature a lower crown height and, as a result, are less likely to be damaged by livestock. Alfalfa comes in a wide range of dormancy and disease packages, so care should be used in selecting the proper variety. Alfalfa may cause bloat, but with proper application and management, the chances of bloat can be greatly reduced.

  • Improved disease resistance
  • Very quick recovery
  • Dark green color
  • Excellent hay for dairy & livestock
  • High first-year yields
  • Great for rotational grazing
  • Withstands adverse conditions
  • Excellent disease resistance
